On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at approximately 11:20 hrs. Company 19 was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire involving a camper with a vehicle in tow on the New York State Thruway in the area of the southbound interchange. Car 2 arrived to find a fully involved vehicle detached from the camper. Command advised all responding units to access via the northbound entrance. Car 1 assumed command on arrival. Crews from Engine 1 and Tanker 2 stretched a handline on arrival and knocked down the fire. Tanker 1 and Truck 1 were utilized for traffic and as a safety barrier for operating crews. All units were placed back in service at approximately 12:02.

Upon arrival command advised of a 1 story vacant structure fully involved. First arriving units stretched multiple hand lines and knocked down a bulk of the fire. A machine from Town of Saugerties Highway was brought in to assist with the extensive overhaul. Additional tankers were called from Malden West Camp and Saxton Fire Districts. Standby coverage was provided from Saugerties Fire and Ulster Hose Co 5. Units operated on scene for approximately 3 hours before being placed back in service around 12:30hrs. Also on scene Glasco Fast Team, Diaz Ambulance, Town of Saugerties Pd, Town of Saugerties Building Department, State Police, and the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit

Notice of Permissive Referendum Equipment Purchase NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Centerville Fire District at a regularly scheduled meeting held on August 21, 2023, duly adopted the following resolution, subject to permissive referendum. Resolved that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Centerville Fire District purchase extrication equipment to include rescue struts, air bags, cribbing and related accessory items at a cost of $37,693.11 with monies to be expended from the Equipment Reserve account. All items will be purchased under NYS Contract # PC69038 PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the adoption of this resolution is subject to permissive referendum pursuant to Section 6-g (4) of the General Municipal Law and shall take effect thirty (30) days after its adoption. Ricks – Chairman of the board Amy DiCesare – District Administrator On Saturday, August 19th, at approximately 16:48 Company 19 was dispatched with the Twin Cloves Technical Rescue Team for a subject un-injured stuck on a cliff after being swept by the rushing water and falling approximately 40 feet. Twin Cloves Car 2 and 3 made an initial assessment of the scene and confirmed the subject had minor injuries and needed to be extricated from the cliff where they were located. The Twin Cloves Technical Rescue Team made quick action to lower 1 rescuer to make contact with the victim while other systems were set in place. Both the victim and rescuer were raised up using a high angle system. The victim was then able to be walked out to awaiting ems personnel, where she was then evaluated and transported to the hospital for further treatment. The Twin Cloves Tech Rescue Team was assisted at the scene by Greene County Paramedics, Hunter Ambulance, NYSP, City of Kingston Fire, Greene County Sheriff, NYSDEC, and Hunter PD. All units were placed back in service at 20:00hrs.
On Tuesday, 7/25/23, at 14:59 Company 19 was dispatched with the Twin Cloves Tech Rescue Team for a report of multiple subjects trapped on the rocks by rising flash flood waters in the area of Fawns Leap swimming hole off of Route 23A. While enroute to the scene Car 1 was flagged down and notified of an incident with additional subjects trapped downstream of the original call in the area of Rats Hole. Command notified incoming units and diverted all Centerville equiptment to the additional call while the team from Greene County and City of Kingston arrived on scene of the original call at Fawns Leap. At this time Car 1 made a request for the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office swift water team as well as the Ulster Hose dive team to the scene to assist with the operation. An additional request for Truck 1 to the scene for lighting was made due do the possibility of an extensive operation going into the night hours. 2 members were deployed over the edge down to the stream bed with throw bags in the event any of the subjects fell into the rising water. A main line was set up upstream for the additional rescuers and equipment as well as 2 more additional lines for rescuers to use to bring the subjects up. The swift water team deployed their equiptment and brought all subjects across the rushing water. The subjects were then brought back up to the roadway by rescue personnel. After all subjects were rescued the operation was broken down and equiptment and personnel relocated to the incident at Fawns Leap. Personnel then assisted in the completion of the 2nd rescue.
All equipment was placed back in service around 20:00hrs. In total 19 individuals were rescued by responders. The rescue operation included various agencies from numerous counties including the Twin Cloves Technical Rescue Team, Greene County Paramedics, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Forrest Rangers, Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Centerville Fire District, City of Kingston Fire Department, and Ulster Hose Co.#5. |
