Notice is hereby given that the Organizational Meeting of the Centerville Fire District, Town of Saugerties, County of Ulster, New York will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Centerville Fire House located at 859 Route 212, Saugerties, NY.
The Centerville Fire District was among 6 fire departments and 1 ambulance service that conducted an informative class to the students of the Saugerties High School in the Town of Saugerties on Monday, October 16th. Centerville, Glasco, Malden, Mount Marion, Saugerties, Saxton and Diaz Ambulance each brought apparatuses from their stations and staged the equipment at the high school. Students were able to go outside at their leisure during lunch hours at which time personnel demonstrated techniques and the operation of power and hand tools. Demonstrations included vehicle extrication, stabilization, bailout, rope rescue, fast team operation and more.
This followed fire prevention week where departments like Centerville Fire annually go to local elementary schools within the district they operate in to show equipment, explain the importance of fire safety to children as well as familiarizing them with the appearance of a firefighter in full turnout gear so they can easily recognize one in the event of an emergency.
On Sunday, October 22, Centerville Fire will be conducting a live fire and roof operations drill with the Glasco Fire Department as part of a training exercise to keep firefighting practices fresh in the minds of our volunteers. Training’s such as these are imperative. They allow us to explore new procedures, train on existing equipment, test new equipment, and overall ensure our ability to operate successfully and safely on any fire scene, in or out of the district.
