Personnel and equipment were dispatched at 07:11 hours Tuesday morning for a 2 car motor vehicle accident involving a school bus. Car 2 arrived on scene, established command and requested a second dispatch for additional man power to shut down State Route 32 in both directions. The school bus had 4 children on board at the time. The driver of the school bus and the driver of the second vehicle both suffered minor lacerations to their heads. The children did not sustain any injuries during the accident. Both Diaz Ambulance and Saugerties P.D. were on scene.
At 14:58hrs, Company 19’s F.A.S.T. team was dispatched out to 3087 State Route 9W in the Glasco Fire District for a structure fire. Rescue 1 responded with a full crew along with cars 3 and 4. Upon arrival, the crew from Rescue 1 quickly set up their F.A.S.T. equipment and laddered the building. Company 29 quickly extinguished the active fire on the second floor and overhaul went into progress. Per Glasco command, Centerville’s F.A.S.T. team was released from the scene and returned in quarters at approximately 16:09 hours.
At about 5 minutes after midnight, Centerville Fire District and Diaz Ambulance were dispatched out to mile marker 101 on the New York State Thruway for a 2 car personal injury automobile accident involving a tractor trailer with entrapment. Upon arrival, Cars 1 and 4 found one patient with heavy entanglement in a small SUV. Crews from multiple apparatuses worked quickly to safely extract the patient from the vehicle. The City of Kingston’s Hazmat team was also dispatched to assist with a fuel leak coming from the saddle tanks on the tractor-trailer. Diaz Ambulance transported the patient to Albany Medical Center for non life threatening injuries. The call lasted 3 hours due to the diesel fuel leak and the scene was cleared approximately 10 minutes after 3 am.
